Product name and internal identifiers
MakeSail is the public product name. The repository, package, API, browser-picker, and file-format compatibility identifiers that retain sail-design are internal MakeSail identifiers, not another public product name.
What MakeSail does
MakeSail lets users:
- define sail and rig dimensions and shape a three-dimensional sail mould;
- inspect the result in 3-D, orthographic 2-D, and diagnostic heatmaps;
- preview five panel layouts and generate flattened sail panels; and
- prepare DXF and PDF outputs for cutting, plotting, projection, or paper prototypes.
Service and account boundaries
Designing, inspecting, saving, reopening, and generating panels do not require an account. Shape editing and inspection run in the browser; generating flattened panels requires the MakeSail service.
There is no cloud design library or autosave. A saved design is a local file on the user's device. Every current downloadable DXF or PDF export requires a network connection and passwordless email sign-in. A free account can use all five current downloads.
